Sports Massage Level 4 Course
This Sports Massage certificate will take your Sports Massage Therapy and Soft Tissue Therapy to a new level. You will also be able to become a member of the Sports Therapy Organisation’s National Register at Level 3 or 4.
The level 4 certificate is a development module from level 3. This module incorporates a deeper level of knowledge. At level 4 you can expand your knowledge into clinical procedures for assessment and treatment planning. It will also enable you to understand the purpose of neuromuscular and tissue mobilisation techniques and apply them, allowing you to prescribe corrective exercise to aid in the treatment of common injuries and soft tissue dysfunction. Level 3 is a pre-requisite or you can book both together as a development programme. If you hold a current level 3 you can progress to level 4 as a stand alone module. Introduction

What Is The Course About?
- Functional anatomy applied to pre-hab and re-hab exercise
- Common injuries and soft tissue dysfunction effecting: spine, pelvic-hip complex, shoulder, knee, ankle and foot, elbow, wrist and hand
- Clinical procedures for client assessment and treatment planning
- How to effectively conduct objective physical assessments for all of body
- Clinical issues – safe treatment and contraindications to treatment
- An understanding of neuromuscular and soft tissue mobilisation techniques – including soft tissue release techniques, connective tissue therapy, trigger points and positional release techniques
- The effective application of the above neuromuscular and soft tissue mobilisation techniques
- Principles of corrective exercise prescription
- Prescribing and demonstrating corrective exercise to aid in the treatment of common injuries/soft tissue dysfunction
- Adapting exercises with suitable progressions and regressions according to client needs
How Long Does it Last?
- Self study online anatomy programme or manual if preferred
- One days attendance on Physical Assessment module
- Two days attendance on Neuromuscular & Soft Tissue Therapy Techniques
- Two days attendance on Corrective Exercise Module
- Each module can be certificated as individual units if preferred
Who Is The Course Suitable For?
- Individuals 18 years and over
- Individuals who wish to change career or extend their sports massage and soft tissue therapy to level 4
What Qualifications Are Needed For Level 4 Sports Massage?
- Level 3 sports massage and a portfolio of massage practice is a pre-requisite for this course

- Conducting an objective physical assessment
- Applying neuromuscular and soft tissue mobilisation techniques
- Prescribing corrective exercise to support the treatment of common injuries
- Worksheets, direct observations and case studies
Are There Any Books Or Special Equipment That Need To Be Purchased?
- No, all course materials will be provided
- If you would like your own massage couch to own, you can do so for an additional £110.
